Pablo Sandoval, playing first base for just the third time all season, strained his left hamstring while finishing an athletic double play in the third inning. Sandoval limped off the field and was removed before his next at-bat.
Sandoval was injured when he did the splits on the back end of a double play that ended the top of the third inning. Ryan Theriot had fielded Carlos Quentin's grounder and shoveled a feed to Brandon Crawford at second base. Crawford's throw to first was low and Sandoval did the splits while fielding the throw and keeping his right foot on the bag.
