For a team that played 12 innings the previous day in Philadelphia and then took a 3,000-mile flight home, the Giants showed few signs of jet lag Monday night.

In fact, the Giants lifted off on a 10-game homestand with one of their most sparkling all-around performances of the year, a 7-1 thumping of the San Diego Padres before another packed house at AT&T Park.

The Giants got three more hits from Melky Cabrera, and Ryan Theriot had three himself, plus a stolen base. Theriot, Cabrera, Nate Schierholtz and Pablo Sandoval made stellar defensive plays -- Sandoval in his first start of the year at first base -- and Ryan Vogelsong went seven strong innings once again.

And then there was Buster Posey, who has become a full-fledged, Mike Piazza-like monster at the plate of late.
