Liverpool target Mamadou Sakho appears to be nearing a switch to Anfield after Paris Saint Germain boss Laurent Blanc revealed the defender has asked to leave.

The France international had been a mainstay in the Ligue 1 champions' team since making his debut for the club in 2007 but has fallen out of favour of late following the arrival big-name players like Thiago Silva and Marquinhos.

The 23-year-old has been linked with an exit throughout the transfer window and it would seem he is close to sealing one with Anfield his most likely destination after Blanc confirmed that Sakho has reached an agreement with the club's board regarding his departure.
