It was the best play of Logan Ryan's young professional football career. After intercepting Jets quarterback Geno Smith late in the first quarter of New England's 30-27 loss to the Jets Ryan ran for 79 yards and scored.

What happened as he crossed the goal line though soured what should have been a moment he savors for the rest of his career.

He jumped turned to face the opponents he had just left behind and grabbed his crotch. The NFL fined him $10000 on Thursday for the act and Ryan apologized in kind when asked about the incident by reporters after the news of his fine was made public.

"First off I just want to apologize to all the fans and all the viewers who had to witness that" Ryan said. "I own up to it 100 percent. It's not acceptable. It's not acceptable to me and this team. And you know I want to put it behind me and just move on and focus on Miami and just let people know it won't happen again. That's not who I am."

The Patriots rookie corner back showed what appeared to be heartfelt remorse for what he did at MetLife Stadium about 35 miles from where he played his college football at Rutgers University and about a 90 minute drive from his hometown of Berlin New Jersey.
