The Royals have acquired infielder Elliot Johnson as the player to be named later from their December trade with Tampa in which they acquired James Shields and Wade Davis for Wil Myers and other prospects, Bob Dutton of the Kansas City Star reported Tuesday.
Johnson, 28, hit .242/.304/.350 (84 OPS+) in 123 games for the Rays last season. Over his three-year career, the utility infielder owns a .223/.283/.338 (75 OPS+) line with six home runs and 18 stolen bases in 200 games.
