There will be no Super Bowl L. Oh, don't worry, the NFL's annual championship game and crossover sports spectacle will still take place at the San Francisco 49ers' new Levi's Stadium in 2016. It just won't be labeled with a Roman numeral that translates to English shorthand for "loser."

The league is ditching Roman numerals for one year as it tries to best celebrate the silver anniversary Super Bowl. ESPN's Darren Rovell was first to report the news.

The question is, why stop there? Super Bowl LI and LII don't sound much better, and wait until you get to Super Bowl LIV, and the more unfortunately titled Super Bowl LIX.
