Every August, I look forward to watching the Little League World Series, which Japan won again this year.

There was one team in particular which received enormous attention in Williamsport and that was the club from Uganda. In 2011, the Ugandan team was denied the opportunity to play in the tournament because of a lack of birth certificates, which apparently is very difficult to obtain in a third-world country. In January 2012, a well-known athlete from Philadelphia visited the African nation to help train the local baseball team. Jimmy Rollins volunteered to teach the Ugandan coaches and players, and through his foundation donated equipment, shoes and $10,000 to help with expenses. The Phillies shortstop quickly became the kid's favorite baseball player.
