Brendan Rodgers insists he doesn’t want to sell any members of his small squad in January after Liverpool rejected Napoli’s bid for Daniel Agger.

The Denmark international has struggled to retain a regular first-team place amid competition from fellow centre-halves Mamadou Sakho, Martin Skrtel and Kolo Touré.

Napoli manager Rafael Benitez has renewed his interest in the Reds vice-captain after making a failed offer to sign the defender on loan next month.

With the Liverpool squad already stretched due to injuries to Jose Enrique, Steven Gerrard and Daniel Sturridge, Rodgers is adamant that he won’t be allowing players to leave next month.

“It’s not about 11 players, it’s about the whole squad,” Rodgers is quoted as saying by Liverpool Echo.

“Anytime anyone is on the bench there shouldn’t be a question about whether he goes or do other clubs want to take someone on loan.
