Aaron Rodgers hasn’t always had a great relationship with the quarterback he first backed up and then replaced, Brett Favre. But Rodgers is glad to hear that the Packers will retire Favre’s number next year.

Rodgers says he was talking to the higher-ups within the Packers organization to express his belief that it was past time to smooth things over with Favre, and he’s pleased that Favre will be honored in Green Bay.

“I’ve kind of been on the forefront of getting this thing done, you know, in my own way,” Rodgers told the Green Bay Press-Gazette. “I wanted to make sure my voice was out there and behind Brett coming back. I think it’s important to bring him back into the fold.
