Rockies owner Dick Monfort has a gripe. "I want to win at everything even checkers" said Monfort sick and tired of hearing his baseball team is too cheap to care.

OK prove it.

Go get pitcher David Price from Tampa Bay for Colorado's starting rotation.

Then also find a way to add a bat with pop to the Rockies' lineup.

For just one year act like the nearly 3 million fans who buy seats at Coors Field actually do matter. Go pay for a team that has a realistic shot to make the playoffs Mr. Monfort. Big dreams cost money.

The Rockies are willing to increase their payroll in the ballpark of $9 million Monfort said.

Well that isn't going to get it done.

My proposal: Stretch the budget to $100 million. Go for broke in 2014. Try to leverage the prime years in the careers of Troy Tulowitzki and Carlos Gonzalez. If the team falls short of the playoffs admit it won't work with Tulo and CarGo as cornerstone pieces then re-trench in '15 or '16 by dealing one of those stars for young players.
