With Chandler Parsons out Wednesday night with a sore knee, the Rockets saw a new face in the starting lineup.

Ronnie Brewer started in Parsons’ place. Before Wednesday, Brewer had played in 16 games for a total of 78 minutes and had scored five points to go with nine assists.

On Wednesday, he played 24 minutes and had two rebounds.

Center Greg Smith was also out with a hurt knee. Pat Beverley and Omer Asik, who have both been out several weeks, were also unavailable due to injuries. Omri Casspi, Donatas Motiejunas, Aaron Brooks and Francisco Garcia all played several minutes off the bench.

“With injuries, everyone is going to have to play some minutes,” coach Kevin McHale said.

Guard Jeremy Lin said playing shorthanded is something the Rockets are used to this season.
