Patriots owner Robert Kraft doesn’t know what fate lies ahead for Tim Tebow. He doesn’t know if the quarterback is going to make the team’s final cut Saturday. By the sound of it he’s rooting for Tebow and hoping it happens.

Speaking prior to last night’s Patriots Premiere at Gillette Stadium Kraft couldn’t hide his affection. He’s clearly a Tebow fan.

“Anyone who’s met him he’s a very special young man” Kraft said. “I’m rooting for him big-time. He’s been a real joy to have around here. I see why he has such a strong national following. He’s just a great great young man.

“We’re also privileged to have Tom Brady and Ryan Mallett. I like our position. If you look around the league . . . I just give thanks for the position we’re in.”

Compared with Week 1 opponent Buffalo now on its third-string quarterback due to injury and the New York Jets who got Mark Sanchez injured putting him in with the scrubs in the fourth quarter Saturday the Pats are certainly in the driver’s seat with or without Tebow.

Tomorrow night however could be make-or-break for the Pats’ third-stringer who hasn’t exactly lit it up on the field. Or perhaps there’s something else Tebow offers that helps him earn a spot.

Kraft was asked if he still believed Tebow would make the final cut.

“I’m rooting for him. I’m in his corner” Kraft said. “I have the privilege of letting Bill (Belichick) make that decision. He’s got a pretty good record doing that.”
