The Redskins’ quest to defend their NFC East title and to get ready to advance past the first round of the playoffs starts in earnest one month from today.

Training camp gets underway in Richmond on July 25. It appears that all systems are go for the Bon Secours Redskins training center to be ready to go in plenty of time for activities to get underway.

It also looks like all systems are go for the Redskins’ starting quarterback to be ready to go in time for camp. When Robert Griffin III talked to the media in May he said that the last two physical tests he needed to pass in order to get cleared to participate in training camp were explosive sprinting and cutting. We saw some of the sprinting two weeks again during minicamp and according to a report he began to plant and cut while running last week.

The players are enjoying their vacations, the last significant stretch of time they will have off until their season ends. For the coaches and the rest of the organization, the 30 days can’t get by soon enough.

Players with money (the draft picks have received their signing bonuses) and free time on their hands can have a tendency to find trouble. Last year eleven NFL players got arrested during the month of July. The Redskins have not had anyone get into trouble with the law during the six week between minicamp and training camp any time recently but that is no guarantee that they will be safe forever.
