What’s the deal with Dan Cleary? It has been a bit of a mystery today.

“Hearing a meeting took place today between Dan Cleary Mike Babcock and Ken Holland in Traverse City MI” TSN’s Aaron Ward the former Red Wings defenseman tweeted.

What?

The Philadelphia Flyers announced Tuesday they had reached an agreement on a three-year $8.25-million with Cleary the longtime Wings forward and he was going to attend their camp for a professional tryout.

He couldn’t yet sign with the Flyers for salary cap reasons until they can put Chris Pronger on injured reserve.

The first indication that might not be happening started earlier Wednesday with a tweet from Elliotte Friedman? of CBC’s “Hockey Night in Canada.”

“Not exactly sure why but it appears as if there is some complication between Daniel Cleary and PHI” Friedman tweeted. “Told he will not be joining Flyers.”

But Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren told the Philadelphia Daily News he still expects Cleary to be at camp today “until I hear it from the horse’s mouth.”
