According to Andy Martino of the New York Daily News, the Mets are "leaning strongly toward" shopping first baseman Ike Davis instead of Lucas Duda. As many as "four or five teams" have interest.

The Mets and Brewers did discuss a possible trade involving Davis, but the talks didn't go anywhere. A deal between the two clubs is unlikely. The Pirates, Rockies and Rays could also have interest according to Martino.

Davis, 26, hit .205/.326/.334 (89 OPS+) with nine home runs in 103 games this past season while spending a month in the minors following a brutally slow start. He hit .227/.308/.462 (111 wRC+) with 32 homers in 156 games just last season.
