As expected quarterback Brady Quinn released by the Jets at the end of last week to avoid having to guarantee his salary for the entire season will re-sign with the team Monday according to Pro Football Talk.

The Jets released him last week only five days after signing him in the first place. Previously this offseason Quinn had lost the Seahawks backup quarterback job to Tarvaris Jackson.

With the Quinn signing the Jets would return to having four quarterbacks on the roster though Mark Sanchez reportedly will miss plenty of time with his shoulder injury.

The good news for the Jets though is that Geno Smith played well in his first game and perhaps took the first step toward helping save Rex Ryan's job by beating the Buccaneers.

New York also has Matt Simms who played well in the preseason on the roster.

Don't expect Quinn to be the only veteran to sign with a team Monday though.
