The MLB's winter meetings start this week. With them come talks of trades, free agent signings and the media speculation.

According to Yahoo's Jeff Passan, trade discussions got off to an early start. Passan reports that the Cardinals have discussed both a possible trade for the Rockies' Troy Tulowitzki and a trade for one the Rangers' two shortstops, Elvis Andrus and Jurickson Profar.

Sportsday's Gerry Fraley reported that Andrus would have the most appeal for the Cardinals, while Profar would be a bit of a wild card in a trade because his super-utility role last season leaves him as a slight unknown at the major-league level.
