Thursday’s Reds-Giants game has been postponed. No make-up date has been announced, but the two teams may not be able to play it until after the regular season. One day has been built in to the playoff schedule for any makeup dates needed.

That was a situation Reds manager Dusty Baker feared coming into the game, as his team had won the last three against the Giants and he had his best pitcher of the last two months, Mike Leake, on the mound.

“Leake is going so well, and you don’t want an extra day off,” Baker said. “But what it messes up is we only have one common off-day [with the Giants].”

The only common off day is Aug. 29, but the Reds are going from St. Louis to Colorado that day, while the Giants are going from Colorado to Arizona. The day off is the only in a long stretch of games for both teams — 33 games in 34 days for both teams.
