The Detroit Red Wings have signed defenseman Brian Lashoff to a three-year contract extension.

Lashoff, 22, has been a pleasant surprise this season. He was expected to spend the entire year with the Grand Rapids Griffins, but injuries to Carlo Colaiacovo and Jonathan Ericsson prompted the Red Wings to recall Lashoff from the Griffins on Jan. 21.
