If the regular season opened tomorrow mark down Daryl Smith and Josh Bynes as the starting inside linebackers.

Both of them started Thursday night’s preseason opener against the Buccaneers. Both of them played well. And both drew effusive praise from coach John Harbaugh following Saturday’s practice.

“I thought Daryl Smith played great” Harbaugh said. “There wasn’t one negative aspect of his performance. He’s going to be very big part of our defense.”

Bynes has enjoyed a strong training camp and is well on his way to opening the season as a starter for the first time.
