Kyle Lowry expects he’ll be the next Raptors player to go.

He’s seen the rumours — “We all read HoopsHype” — and spent four hours after practice Thursday going crazy trying to figure out what was real and what wasn’t. But later that night, Lowry turned off the phone and went to bed.

“I’ll wake up and if I was traded, I was traded,” he said. “ If not, I come to shootaround.”

Turned out the latter was the case and Lowry not only took part in the shootaround but was trotted out afterward to address all the rumours.

“I haven’t had any talks with (Raptors GM) Masai (Ujiri),” Lowry said. “Everyone read everything yesterday, seen everything. To this point I’m still a Raptor and I’m focused on tonight playing against the 76ers.”

Depending on which rumour you were tuned into Thursday night, Lowry was either going to New York, Brooklyn or Golden State. None of the rumours came to fruition, but that doesn’t mean he won’t be with a new team sooner rather than later.

Lowry was trying to downplay the effect a pending team change would have on him, but admitted he can’t pretend it’s not having some effect.

“Yeah, of course. No one can say it doesn’t,” he said. “But at the same time, you have to know this is a business. You have to know the situation you are in, the situation you are going to be in. You can’t let it affect you too much because you still have to go out there and do your job and try to win for the team that you are playing for.”

And with a contract that expires at the end of this year, the onus on Lowry is to do whatever he can to increase his value.

“I still want to show that I can play this game,” he said. “I have been doing a great job and we haven’t won as many games as we would have liked here, but I’m still going to play hard and we’re still going to try and win every game every single night.”
