Yu Darvish confirmed Tuesday night that he is dealing with a physical issue although Darvish and the Texas Rangers don’t seem overly concerned about it. It’s been classified as more normal wear and tear of a 162-game season.

“Well it’s no more than what’s already out there” manager Ron Washington said Wednesday afternoon. “Everybody has issues that they’re dealing with and he’s no different. I always try to tell you guys he’s not Superman. This grind in the major league season in the United States is like no grind anywhere they play baseball because every night you’re facing the best.

“His issues are no more than what you already know. That’s where the grind comes in. You’ve got to go beyond the call of duty. It becomes mind over matter.”

Darvish has not gone at least six innings in consecutive starts for the first time this season. He lasted only 5 1/3 innings against Houston on Tuesday allowing two runs on four hits with four walks and nine strikeouts over a 101-pitch outing.

In his previous start last Thursday in Tampa Bay Darvish went five innings allowing two runs on five hits with six walks and four strikeouts.
