The Rangers have placed veteran center Jeff Halpern on waivers, a source confirmed to ESPNNewYork.com.

Halpern, who inked a one-year, $700,000 deal this summer, has played in all 30 games this season for the Rangers but has seen limited ice time as the team's fourth-line center.

The 12-year veteran has averaged just over six minutes a game in the past five contests; he played only 3:41 in the Rangers' 3-1 loss to the Panthers on Thursday.
