The main news nugget out of this morning’s skate before the Rangers try to snap a three-game losing streak tonight against the Hurricanes is that Marian Gaborik skated on the right wing with center Brad Richards and Rick Nash.

That trio started seven games together starting with the Rangers’ third game of the season but has been used only sparingly since.

Also from today’s morning skate, Henrik Lundqvist will be in net tonight with D Stu Bickel and Matt Gilroy the healthy scratches. RW Asham Asham (back) also skated and said he feels close to returning, now it’s a matter of getting back into game shape. He hasn’t played since a 3-1 loss to Montreal on Feb. 19. He said he felt his back tighten in the first period of that game - not on any specific hit - and by the third period, he couldn’t bend down to tie his laces. He practiced Wednesday in Winnipeg but hasn’t been on the ice since and says, in retrospect, it was a mistake to skate that day immediately after a 21/2 hour flight from Buffalo and given how cold it was in Winnipeg.
