Kyle McClellan is headed to the Texas Rangers, while Michael Kirkman is going to the disabled list.

The Rangers purchased the contract of McClellan on Sunday, a day after an 18-inning game against the Blue Jays.

Kirkman was placed on the DL with a recurrence of cutaneous lymphoma (skin cancer) located in the area of his right triceps. To make a spot on the 40-man roster for McClellan, the Rangers moved rehabbing reliever Joakim Soria to the 60-day disabled list.

McClellan signed with the Rangers last off-season, but was recovering from a shoulder injury. He suffered multiple setbacks in spring training, but has a 2.00 ERA over eight minor-league appearances this year.

Kirkman, meanwhile, has struggled after a strong spring. He had an 8.18 ERA, including a 9.17 ERA over his last 20 appearances. He gave up a walk-off homer to David Ortiz in his last outing Thursday.
