The Rangers could work out a contract extension for second baseman Ian Kinsler before opening day.

Kinsler's representative, former Rangers' minor league pitcher Jay Franklin, is scheduled to meet Wednesday morning with the Rangers for renewed negotiations. The Rangers hold an option on Kinsler for next season at $13 million. They have not made a formal offer on an extension.

"I would love for something to be finalized that will allow me to basically be a Texas Ranger for the rest of my career," Kinsler said Tuesday. "I love this city. I love the fans. I love this coaching staff. I love everything about it. I'd just like to get something finalized."
