The Rangers took an initial step in addressing their lack of depth on the blue line by acquiring 24-year-old Justin Falk from Minnesota in exchange for a 2014 sixth-round draft pick and AHL winger Benn Ferriero.

Falk, a left-hand shot who recorded three points (0-3) in 36 games last year, is a restricted free agent who carries a Qualifying Offer of $866,240. Hie is more a finesse defenseman than a physical one.
