After a sizzling start followed by a so-so finish as a rookie, Greg Zuerlein has had a quiet second season as the Rams’ place-kicker.

Oh, he had made 22 of 24 entering Sunday’s game against Tampa Bay, but he had little chance to display "The Leg" with a long of "only" 48 yards this season.

He changed that Sunday, with a 54-yarder in the third quarter — the first of three field goals in a 23-13 Rams victory over the Buccaneers before a crowd announced at 54,423 at the Edward Jones Dome.

Zac Stacy rushed for 104 yards and a touchdown, and wide receiver Stedman Bailey scored his first TD on a double reverse, as the Rams matched their 2013 victory total with their seventh triumph of the season.

It was the team’s fourth victory of the year with Kellen Clemens at quarterback. Clemens completed 16 of 20 passes for 158 yards.

Now 7-8, the Rams close the 2013 regular season at Seattle. Tampa Bay, which had won four of its previous six games entering the contest fell to 4-11.

Despite falling behind 7-0 early, the Rams controlled most of the first half and led 14-10 at intermission. Were it not for a couple of fumbles, it could have been 21-7 Rams.
