The Raiders activated linebacker Miles Burris off the physically unable to perform list on Wednesday afternoon. The move was expected after the team created roster space by waiving linebacker Martez Wilson on Tuesday.

The transaction concludes a long, strange rehab that’s lasted all season. Burris had offseason knee surgery despite playing the entire 2012 season. Burris declined to specify his injury or what he got surgically repaired, but the rehab went far longer than anyone expected.

He missed training camp and the season to this point, but he was eligible to start practicing on Oct. 30 while remaining on the PUP list. That 21-day roster exemption ended Wednesday, so the Raiders had to activate him or place him on season-ending injured reserve.
