Closer Rafael Soriano has not arrived at Nationals camp because of a visa issue and hopes to report by the end of the week, according to a person close to him.
Soriano has been held up as the Dominican Republic verifies information related to his visa. Soriano received a five-year visa when he signed with the New York Yankees prior to the 2011 season. The transfer of that paperwork to the Nationals has led to the delay, according to the person.
“He’s ready to roll, can’t wait to report to camp,” the person close to him said.
The Nationals have still not issued any comment about Soriano.
