Rafa Benitez is eyeing up a raid of former club Chelsea for defender Cesar Azpilicueta.

The Napoli manager is keen to add to his defensive options in January as he aims to mount a charge for the Serie A title, with his side currently in second place - three points off leaders Roma.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Benitez wants to bring Azpilicueta to Napoli after being impressed by him during his eventful six months at Stamford Bridge.

The Spanish international, who joined the Blues in August 2012 for £7m from French club Marseille, made 27 appearances last term helping his side qualify for the Champions League and capture the Europa League title.

Azpilicueta has only featured three times in the Premier League this season under new manager Jose Mourinho, but netted his first Chelsea goal in last week's Capital One Cup victory over Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.
