Don't expect Red Wings goaltender Jimmy Howard to test his competitiveness with a stock car anytime soon.

"I get scared to death when I get my vehicle up over 80," Howard said.

Howard served at Michigan International Speedway as a grand marshal of Sunday's Quicken Loans 400 and said he's a lifelong race fan who would rather watch.

The race, scheduled to start at 1 p.m., likely will be delayed due to rain that's expected to stay in the Brooklyn area until about 2 p.m.

During Howard's press conference Sunday, he donned a blue Tigers hat and mentioned Ricky Rudd, a 32-year veteran who retired in 2007 as his favorite driver.
