Albert Pujols is not a $254 million singles hitter, after all.
One night after doubling off the Coliseum's left-field wall, Pujols cleared it, his fourth homer of the season and third in seven games. If Pujols goes on an Albert-like tear, recapturing his St. Louis days, he might reflect on this little stretch, including Tuesday night's homer off Graham Godfrey, as the start of something big.
Then again, Pujols is far from rebounding. He's hitting .213.
Godfrey was promoted from Triple-A Sacramento to replace injured Brandon McCarthy but sustained a finger injury and lasted only three innings, and the A's got just one hit and fell to the Angels 5-0.
Pujols powers Angels over A's, 5-0
