The Pistons have agreed to a two-year deal with Italian League MVP Luigi Datome, a source close to the situation confirmed to The Detroit News.

The source requested anonymity because the deal had not been finalized.

The deal is worth $3.5 million over the two years.

Datome, who currently plays for Virtus Roma, also announced on his Facebook page he was joining the Pistons.

Datome, 25, is 6-foot-9, 220-pound forward and is regarded as the No. 1 free agent in Europe this season, as well as one of the best shooters in the Italian League.

Memphis had an offer on the table for Datome while Milwaukee, San Antonio, Boston, Phoenix and Houston were all interested in him, as well.

He's expected to be a rotational player with the Pistons, who earlier made known their desires to sign or acquire an elite shooter this offseason.
