The Pistons haven’t officially announced this year’s coaching staff because new coach Maurice Cheeks and the organization still haven’t completed it.

Only two assistant coaches have been hired so far — the vociferous Rasheed Wallace and John Loyer who served under Lawrence Frank and was retained.

Both Wallace and Loyer coached the Pistons’ summer-league team. Maz Trakh also helped coach in the summer league.

Fans are well aware of Wallace and his 2004 heroics. Once the Pistons acquired him in a trade in February that year he seemed to be the final important piece that vaulted the team to its third NBA championship.
