Suns center Marcin Gortat was giving credit to how the Orlando Magic prepared him to develop further in Phoenix and said he hoped to dunk in his first trip back Orlando to pay homage to the coach who treated him like a son.

"I'm going to yell actually, 'Brendan Malone created that monster,' " Gortat said of the Orlando assistant coach.

If only he had dunked. Or made more than one shot. Or not tied a season scoring low from December.

Orlando fans must have been wondering what all the hubbub has been about what they let get away in the December 2010 trade that set Gortat free to become a consistent double-double player in Phoenix. On Wednesday night, the apprentice doubled over to the master's body blows, as Gortat was outscored 28 to two by Dwight Howard.
