An hour after the Phillies’ 15-7 loss to Tampa Bay, some of the younger faces in the clubhouse could be seen packing their things, and asking attendants which uniforms they could keep and which to leave.
Saturday was a day of roster moves.
Six players – Adam Morgan, Tommy Joseph, Cody Asche, Kyle Simon, J.C. Ramirez and Michael Martinez – were re-assigned to minor-league camp, and will trudge out of Bright House Field and into the minor league locker room at the Carpenter Complex.
Joe Savery was optioned to minor-league camp Saturday. Jon Pettibone, Zach Collier and Ethan Martin will be optioned to minor-league camp, but the moves won’t be official until Monday.
Joseph, Asche and Morgan saw the most playing time of the bunch, but Phillies general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. declined to single any of them out. Outside of Joseph, all of the above were in major-league camp for the first time.
