The Penguins downed the Ottawa Senators, 4-1, tonight at Consol Energy Center in Game 1 of their second-round playoff series.

Paul Martin opened the scoring with a power-play goal. His shot from the right point glanced off of Ottawa's Jared Cowen and past goaltender Craig Anderson to give the Penguins a 1-0 lead at 2:41 of the first period.

When Erik Condra's shot handcuffed Penguins goaltender Tomas Vokoun at the right post, Colin Greening swooped in and poked the puck in to tie it for Ottawa, 1-1, at 4:51 of the first period.

A nice setup by Chris Kunitz led to a goal by Evgeni Malkin to give the Penguins a 2-1 lead at 12:15 of the first period. Kunitz's pass came from the lower far side of the left circle found Malkin at the far side of the crease.

Kunitz gave the Penguins a 3-1 lead when he punched in a rebound of a shot by Jarome Iginla for a power-play goal at 18:33 of the second period.

Pascal Dupuis scored a short-handed goal off of a two-on-one break at 11:24 of the third period to push the Penguins' lead to 4-1.
