Sidney Crosby is out of the hospital.

He had spent two nights at UPMC Presbyterian in Oakland while recovering from surgery to repair a broken jaw, but Penguins coach Dan Bylsma said Crosby was discharged Monday afternoon.

Crosby is out indefinitely, though general manager Ray Shero has said he hopes to have a clearer time frame for Crosby's recovery later this week.

He had surgery late Saturday to repair the lower jaw, broken during a game Saturday afternoon when a shot from defenseman Brooks Orpik was deflected.

Crosby's jaw is not wired shut, and he is in good spirits, Penguins teammates said.

His texts with teammates have included jokes and discussions about the Penguins' 15-game winning streak.
