New Orleans Pelicans forward Ryan Anderson has officially been upgraded to day-to-day by the organization as he recovers from a chipped bone in his toe.

But the sharpshooting Anderson, who has missed the first five games of the season, likely will miss tonight's game against the Los Angeles Lakers at New Orleans Arena because the pain hasn't subsided.

In recent days, Anderson has ramped up his rehab, sprinting the court, taking shots and dribbling the ball. But after an intense workout on Thursday, Anderson said the pain returned.

"It's just flaring up on me," Anderson said after the Pelicans' shootaround Friday morning. "It's causing me a lot of pain. I've been trying to do some heavy duty running and sprinting and I tried to get up and down yesterday and I couldn't quite get right. It's a thing where if I feel just a little bit of pain I'll play on it. But it's flaring up to the point that it's really hurting."
