After his NHL coaching debut ended with a bang (on the bench partition) Avalanche head coach Patrick Roy has reportedly been fined $10000 by the NHL.

The league has yet to announce a penalty for Roy but Adrian Dater of the Denver Post reports the fine is coming though he didn't say exactly why.

The report has since been confirmed by numerous other sources.

Although there's no specific reason given yet the reason why he would be fined is clear; coaches probably shouldn't try to push down the bench partition to get to the other coach. The NHL doesn't typically like seeing coaches act in a way that isn't befitting of coaches. Consider this a strong reminder that he needs to keep it in check a little better.
