Zach Parise is staying in New Jersey.

At least he's staying until the end of May so he can skate and build up more leg strength to be ready for next season after missing all but one of the final 70 games of this season because of a torn meniscus in his right knee.

After that, the Devils' left wing will head home to Minnesota for the summer before returning for training camp in September.

Yes, Parise expects to be back next season.

"Yeah," he said Monday. "I'm restricted."

Parise knows that, as a restricted free agent, which he can become on July 1, players don't change teams often, though if he isn't signed before that day there will be teams that are tempted to sign him to an offer sheet. If the Devils have to, however, they will probably file for team-elected arbitration to prevent Parise from fielding offer sheets.
