Veteran forward Alex Kovalev is getting another shot at the National Hockey League.
The 39-year-old, who was attending camp with the Florida Panthers on a tryout deal, has signed a one-year, $1 million deal and will be on the club's 23-man roster.
Kovalev played last season in the KHL with Atlant Mytishchi scoring a goal and five assists in 22 games.
In 18 NHL seasons with the Montreal Canadiens, Pittsburgh Penguins, Ottawa Senators and New York Rangers, he scored 1,024 points in 1,302 games.
