The St. Louis Rams were awarded wide receiver Titus Young today, after being the only team to put in a waiver claim on the troubled former-Detroit Lion. For their organization it's a low-risk move with nothing but upside, but the Carolina Panthers couldn't afford the risk of upsetting their WR position under first-year coach Ricky Proehl.

Reasons behind Young's release from Detroit are myriad. In May of 2012 he punched teammate Louis Delmas, and there are reports that his ego went beyond his off-field issues; believing he was as talented as All-Pro receiver Calvin Johnson, Young was vocal about his lack of use in the offense, and wanted his role to be bigger.
