The Padres selected Mississippi State outfielder Hunter Renfroe with the 13th overall pick in the 2013 MLB draft.

The 6-foot-1, 216-pound Renfroe is putting the finishing touches on an eye-opening junior season in Starkville, finally tapping into the power potential that should make him an impact bat at the next level.

After an underwhelming first two years, Renfroe is hitting .352 with 15 home runs and 58 RBIs. He leads the Bulldogs with nine stolen bases and has showcased a strong arm in right field.

The right-handed batter and thrower was rated the top corner outfield prospect in the draft by Baseball America.

Renfroe and MSU will take on Virginia this weekend in an NCAA Super Regional.

The slot value for the 13th pick in this year's draft is $2,678,000.

The Padres also have the 50th and 69th picks.

The first two rounds of the draft are televised Thursday on MLB Network and streamed on MLB.com. The draft continues at 10 a.m. PT Friday with the third through 10th rounds and at 10 a.m. PT Saturday for rounds 10 through 40.
