Jedd Gyorko hit a three-run homer before his "hometown" fans Tuesday night to lead the Padres to a 5-2 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates.

The win was the Padres third straight and fourth in five games against playoff-bound teams while on a 10-game road trip.

The Padres second win in as many games in Pittsburgh improved their record at PNC Park to 30-10 since the Pirates opened the ballpark in 2001. The Padres have won 14 of their last 15 games in Pittsburgh.

Gyorko who has a number of friends and family visiting Pittsburgh from Morgantown W.Va. followed singles by Chris Denorfia and Will Venable -- a perfectly placed bunt up the first-base line -- in the third with a drive into the left field stands off Pirates starter Jeff Locke.

The rookie second baseman’s 19th homer of the season gave the Padres a 3-0 lead.

Although the Pirates scored two in the bottom of the third off Padres starter Eric Stults the Padres scored single runs in the fourth and seventh.
