With the Packers’ backup quarterback situation more unsettled than the Jets’ starting quarterback situation it’s been easy to forget that Green Bay receiver Jordy Nelson has knee surgery in early August and missed the balance of training camp.

He returned to practice last Monday and a league source tells PFT that Nelson will be available to play in Week One at San Francisco.

That’s very good news for the Packers who’ll need their receivers to get open well before a makeshift offensive line yields to opposing defenders who’ll try to sack Aaron Rodgers more than the 51 times he went down in 2012.

Whispers regarding nerve issues created extra concerns regarding Nelson.
