He’s a stretch. But he sounds interested.

World Series-winning manager Ozzie Guillen took to Twitter on Thursday night in response to a fan about whether he’d be interested in joining the Tigers.

And his response translated: “My dream would be to manage the best Miguel Cabrera.”

Cabrera and Guillen both Venezuela natives are long-time friends dating to Guillen’s days coaching third base for the Marlins in 2003. Cabrera was on that team which won the World Series.

They also socialized during Guillen’s days managing the White Sox. It’s worth noting however that while it was greatly speculated Guillen was among those out with Cabrera on a night of heavy drinking in October 2009 Guillen flatly denied to The Detroit News that he was present.

Guillen 49 has a lot of the qualities Tigers president and general manager Dave Dombrowski will be seeking namely experience — he’s managed nine years eight with the White Sox — and sustained success. Guillen’s White Sox won a world championship in 2005.
