The Capitals earned their first victory of the season with a 3-2 win over the Buffalo Sabres Sunday afternoon in front of a sellout crowd at Verizon Center.

Game in a nutshell: Joel Ward, John Erskine and Alex Ovechkin lit the lamp and Michal Neuvirth shut the door down the stretch as the Capitals picked up their first win of the season.

Line shuffling: After starting the game with Alex Ovechkin on the left side of center Jay Beagle and right wing Joey Crabb, Adam Oates reunited last year's top line of Ovechkin with Nicklas Backstrom and Troy Brouwer in the second period and all three players dominated play the remainder of the game.
