The Orlando Magic will sign rookie center Dewayne Dedmon for the remainder of this season after his second 10-day contract expired at 11:59 Sunday night.

Dedmon gives the Magic another big man — a spot on the roster that thinned out when the team waived Solomon Jones on Jan. 4 and then bought out Glen Davis’ contract on Feb. 21.

Dedmon’s signing is expected to be made official today, and he will travel with the team for its four-game road trip to the West Coast. Dedmon’s skills are raw — he didn’t start playing organized basketball until his senior year of high school — but he runs the floor well and has shown the ability to improve.

The Magic have decided not to sign rookie swingman Adonis Thomas for the remainder of the season, as reported Saturday.
